Our Mission & Philosophy
The mission of Advent Lutheran Church Preschool is to share God's grace through the education and enrichment of young children. Our guiding educational philosophy is that every child is a gift from God, full of potential and ready to be nurtured in mind, body and spirit. Advent offers a Christian learning environment for children ages 2 through 5. Our well-balanced program supports emotional, social, cognitive, physical and spiritual development. Children are allowed to develop at their own readiness with the needs of the " whole child " as the focus. Advent Lutheran Preschool joins other Lutheran preschools as a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association.
At Advent Preschool your child will find a loving, caring environment where he or she can explore the world and prepare for the challenges ahead in kindergarten and first grade. Class sizes are kept small (10-14) with a teacher and an aide so that each child will receive individual attention to help them reach their full potential. Our classrooms are fun, safe, and welcoming spaces where your child can learn and grow.
Our Staff
Our staff are highly-qualified and experienced at teaching and guiding preschoolers. Director Deb Trewartha welcomes your questions about our growing program and all it has to offer your child. Our Curriculum
Advent Preschool uses the Creative Curriculum approach which balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children's learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. While including clear content in learning the alphabet, pre-reading, number concepts, science, social studies, the arts and technology, we recognize the primary importance of social, spiritual and emotional development in children's early learning.
Growing in Faith
All children, regardless of faith or church affiliation, are welcome at Advent. We do include in our classrooms beginning concepts in the Christian faith. We believe that children benefit from learning about God at an early age. From simple Bible stories children learn about God's creation and experience how God loves and cares for them each and every day.
Healthy Bodies
There's more to a child's first experience at school than ABC's and 123's. A healthy adult body begins early in childhood with plenty of active play. Our large indoor play facility and outdoor play area provide great ways to keep your preschooler moving. Children grow so fast and their bodies need lots of movement and spirited play to stay strong.
Glue, Paint, Glitter and Other Sticky Stuff!
Preschoolers love to dive in with both hands--whether it is fingerpaint, glue, crayons, paint or clay! Getting little fingers moving in new ways with diverse materials helps promote fine motor skills and reinforces mind-body connections in the developing brain. Art also helps small children learn to express and understand their feelings. We encourage this kind of play and make sure that your child has hands-on activities to keep their creative juices flowing!

Class Offerings
Registration
To register, contact Deb by phone or email below or pick up a registration form from Advent. You may also print off a registration online . Please be sure to check on class availability before submitting a registration.
Registration for 2010-11 is underway. Call or email soon to reserve a spot. A non-refundable registration/supply fee of $75 ($50 for each child after 1st per family) is due upon registration. Tuition is due the first school day of each month.
**A few 2010-11 Openings are still available--New students can be added at anytime during the school year
***Be sure to ask about our exciting EXPLORE class for 4 and 5 year olds! The students have the opportunity to learn "cool stuff" in 8 different areas: Music, Art, Dance, Drama, Nature, Science, Foreign Languages and Computers. Our parents and students LOVE it!
